*EPCH Strengthens Engagement with Consulate General of India, Milan to Boost Handicrafts Exports*

 

24th April 2026, Delhi/NCR: Shri Neeraj Khanna, Chairman, EPCH, along with senior officials of EPCH, met Shri Lavanya Kumar, Consul General of India in Milan at Milan, Italy. During the meeting, officials held detailed discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation with a focus on enhancing marketing initiatives and promoting exports of Indian handicrafts to Italy. Recognizing Italy as an important market for design-led and high-value products, emphasis was laid on expanding outreach efforts and increasing visibility of Indian handicrafts among Italian buyers and importers.

 

Speaking during discussion held, Shri Neeraj Khanna, Chairman, EPCH, said that “highlighted the importance of continued collaboration with Indian missions abroad in strengthening global outreach and building stronger trade linkages. He emphasized that such engagements play a crucial role in showcasing India’s rich handicraft heritage and expanding export opportunities”.

 

Dr. Khanna further shared that “it was mutually agreed to intensify marketing and buyer promotion activities for the upcoming IHGF Delhi Fair Autumn 2026. These efforts aim to position India as a preferred sourcing destination for high-quality, handcrafted products and to attract a larger number of international buyers, particularly from Italy and the European region.”

 

Shri Lavanya Kumar, Consul General of India, Milan, assured full support of the Consulate in facilitating promotional activities and strengthening connections between Indian exporters and Italian buyers.

 

Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts is a nodal institute for promotion of exports of handicrafts from the Country and create brand image of magic of the gifted hands of millions of artisans and crafts persons engaged in production of home, lifestyle, furniture and fashion jewellery & accessories products in different craft clusters of the Country. The overall Handicrafts exports during the year 2024-25 was Rs. 33,123 Crores (US $ 3,918 Million), as informed by Shri Rajesh Rawat, Executive Director-EPCH.
